PARABOLA: Unique Theatrical Group for Teens
Our high school group, PARABOLA, meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We will continue to explore the world of drama and how this medium can be used to educate, entertain, and engage.
PARABOLA is open to all high school students. No acting experience is necessary and, in fact, several members prefer to write, or assist backstage, rather than do any performing. Any God given talent can be put to use to spread the message. Call Greg, at 234-8927, with any questions.

dont u luv me? Goes to the Minnesota Fringe Festival!
PARABOLA is very excited to be invited to perform at one of the country's largest performing arts festivals! To help raise funds to cover their travel expenses to Minnesota, the troupe presented a special performance of dont u luv me?, on Friday, July 23. If you missed the show, but would like to donate to help send our group to the festival, please drop your donation off at the church office. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to bring this show to the festival, but PARABOLA is working hard and will make our church, and the Cedar Valley, very proud!
Please spread the word about our group's show to anyone you know in the Twin Cities - postcards, with production dates, are available at the church. There will be five performances from August 6-15 at the Intermedia Arts Center, 2822 Lyndale in Minneapolis. Dates and times are given below and also shown on the Fringe Festival site.

PARABOLA Youth Theatre presents ...
dont u luv me?
dont u luv me? is the story of a sophomore girl, named Angela, who gets to date the dreamiest guy in school. Looks, however, can be deceiving. What begins as welcome attention soon grows into jealous, controlling behavior. As the relationship continues, Angela’s boyfriend begins to tell her how to dress and who she can be with. When she attempts to break up with him he threatens to harm himself and finally becomes violent.
This well-researched and thought-provoking play explores the hidden world of aggression and violence in teen dating while encouraging young people to make choices that result in healthy relationships. It was written just this year and includes many text messages that will be projected on the screen behind the actors. After premiering the show at First Congregational, the group will tour the production to Iowa churches, high schools, service organizations and juvenile detention centers.
